about

"To the Rescue" is a classic R&B love ballad, with sultry vocals and simmering musical accompaniment. A maxi-single, it consists of four mixes: 1) the main version featuring sisters Felicia and Cheri on vocals, 2) the "Core Mix," minus strings and keyboard, 3) the "Butta Mix," a contemporary jazz-flavored instrumental with saxophone lead, and 4) an instrumental of the main version.

With music and lyrics written by Felicia Hunter and vocals performed by Felicia and her sister Cheri (In Two), the song was also arranged and produced by the multitalented sisters.

The music consists of a seamless blend of lyrical piano, agile drums, insistent bass, counter-melodic strings and cadenced percussion, a combination that provides the perfect setting for the fluid, background-supported lead vocals.

Initial, demo tracking for "To the Rescue" was done at Bar None Studio in Connecticut. During these sessions, pianist Vickie Tsui generously volunteered her time. The final, commercial product was recorded at three New York studios, with several different engineers at the boards at various times. The song was mixed by Carl Nappa (with the exception of version #3, which was mixed by Greg Pinto) and mastered by Chris Gehringer.

"We did a tremendous amount of work in the studio," says Cheri. "But we wanted to take the time to get it right. The result is that we know we have a good product, something we can be proud of, that is exactly what we intended it to be."

"To the Rescue" was initially released a few years ago, to rave customer reviews. The CD also received stellar critical acclaim. Here are some examples:

***** "[a]bsolutely beautiful and powerful vocals. ... The harmonies remind us of Brownstone. Whilst vocally it's in the Mariah and Whitney ballad territory, the sisters' vocals have more maturity and oomph ... There's a couple of quiet-storming instrumental mixes ... This could be a big radio or pop hit if it was picked up by a major." -- "Street Level with Kwaku" in the UK-based Chillin online magazine

***** "True R&B heads can appreciate the fact that In Two doesn't possess the typical, helium-induced, Smurfette voices that R&B/hip-hop seems to be so fond of these days. 'To the Rescue' is a lush, mellow, slower tempo song about a Mr. Do-Right who uses good old TLC (tender loving care) to chase away his belovedâs jaded views on love and relationships ... [S]trong, wise vocals ... tight production ... flowing arrangement ... " -- Vonetta Booker, Umoja News

***** "Tell you what: this should be a hit, and this is coming from someone who doesnât like many contemporary R&B ballads." -- Fran Fried, New Haven Register

***** " ... mesmerizing vocals ... The original is gem enough, but the core mix drops the strings and provides a sparse backing over which the voices shine. Don't be fooled by the âButta Mix,â which is supposed to be an instrumental; itâs a bumping, quiet-storming, sax-featured track, but adorned by sweet, soulful harmonies." -- DJ Magazine (UK)

***** "In Two has vocal power for the masses." -- The Hilltop, Howard University's student newspaper

"We were so excited about our song being in a movie," says Cheri. "It was such a thrill to hear our voices on the silver screen!"

While Cheri favors version #1 of the song, Felicia says her favorite is #4.

"I just love how the music flows, and how it stands alone on its own even without the vocals," says Felicia. "Every time I put on the CD, I wind up playing #4 over and over and over again.

"It was a favorite of several of our customers, too," adds Felicia referring to the sisters' direct-sales campaign, when they set up a booth and sold "To the Rescue" directly to patrons at shopping centers and other vendor locations. "Three or four were so impressed with #4 that they said they were going to use it to march down the aisle during their weddings. That was, like, the best compliment."

In 2007, version #1 of "To the Rescue" was featured in the movie "And Then Came Love," the final film in which the late great Eartha Kitt starred before her death. The song serves as background music in a pivotal scene in which the love interests -- played by Vanessa Williams, most recently of "Desperate Housewives" fame, and Broadway's Kevin Daniels (star of "Magic/Bird") -- spend quality time together getting to know each other.

Now, "To the Rescue" is headed to the New York stage as the title song of an original jukebox musical featuring contemporary pop, R&B and jazz-flavored songs all written by Felicia.

Plans call for the show to be launched later this year. And, your help getting the show off the ground is greatly appreciated. All proceeds from the sale all versions of "To the Rescue" sold from this Bandcamp site will go directly to production costs for the the "To the Rescue" theatrical musical. That only applies for this site. Many, many other third-party, online vendors have picked up "To the Rescue" for sale. However, this is the only site where the lion's share of the proceeds will be applied to the musical. So, if you'd like to purchase "To the Rescue" and you'd like to support the musical production, please make your purchase from this Bandcamp site. That choice is very, very much appreciated.

We thank you very much for listening to and considering "To the Rescue" and for your valued support.

Sincerely,

Felicia and Cheri
(In Two)
